With the aim of transforming the standard 48-hour meetings business turnaround into real-time responses, Accor is partnering with MeetingPackage to automate group bookings and meeting space reservations.
Accor has named MeetingPackage as its exclusive global partner for the automation of group bookings and meeting room reservations – the goal is to reduce the typical 48-hour response time to RFPs and enable near real-time booking.
Group business can account for 30% to 40% of net revenue at business hotels, but manual workflows and legacy systems have slowed conversions.
MeetingPackage’s Group and M&E Central Reservation System will serve as Accor’s core platform for managing inventory, pricing, content, and availability. It will connect with Accor’s direct booking engine and third-party RFP platforms, such as Cvent.
The platform supports real-time booking and pricing for group stays and meeting rooms. It also routes RFPs from external sources into Accor’s selected sales and catering systems: Delphi, Oracle OSEM, iVvy, and Backyou.
Competitors Also Focus on Hotel Group Booking Strategies
The partnership reflects a broader shift in hotel group booking strategies. Earlier this year, IHG expanded its agreement with Groups360, to further deploy GroupSync Engage, a direct online booking solution for group guest rooms and meeting spaces.
Meanwhile, Marriott International has continued to test and expand its direct-book capabilities for small meetings through its M-Beta program and broader use of Groups360’s GroupSync platform. Marriott’s Instant Booking tool, available at over 1,500 hotels, enables planners to instantly book meetings with 10 to 25 guest rooms or events of up to 50 attendees, four days to one year in advance.
Groups360 received a $50 million investment in 2019 from hotel companies that included Accor.
Accor Expands Oracle Integration for Meetings and Events
Accor is also implementing Oracle OPERA Cloud Sales and Event Management across its global portfolio to support its meetings and events business.
The platform will connect 2.5 million square meters of event space and more than 800,000 guestrooms across 5,600 hotels. Self-service tools will allow planners, guests, and third-party organizers to browse and book venues, rooms, and catering.
A soft launch is planned for late 2025, with full functionality expected in early 2026.
“Hotels need to be able to maximize revenue on the increasing demand for meeting and event spaces,” said Alex Alt, executive vice president and general manager, Oracle Consumer Industries. “Whether professional event planners are selecting from options around the globe, to those looking to host a small event at a local hotel, Oracle Cloud will help make it easier for clients to find and book the ideal venue from Accor’s extensive portfolio.”
